Contest Overview

With $500 cash on the line watch as Canada’s very own baristas, bartenders, coffee and tea enthusiasts craft the ultimate concoctions.

In front of a panel of expert judges each competitor will have the opportunity to handcraft their finest cocktail using coffee or tea as their base.

Total Competitors: 6

3 coffee – based cocktails
3 tea – based cocktails

Timing:

8 minutes on the clock
Participants compete simultaneously

Prizing:

One coffee based cocktail winner will receive $250 while one tea based cocktail winner will also receive $250 or one crafty winner could submit both a coffee and tea recipe and take home the ultimate prize of $500.

Ingredients:

Coffee:
Each competitor is free to use the coffee and method of brewing of his/her choice. While espresso and filter brewing equipment shall be made available, competitors shall provide their own equipment if alternative brewing methods are chosen. Ground coffee will also be provided onsite for participants not supplying their own coffee. Any coffee beans must be ground prior to competition start time.

Tea:
Each competitor is free to use loose leaf tea or bagged tea. The method of steeping is of his/her choice. While the steeping equipment shall be made available, competitors shall provide their own equipment if alternative steeping methods are chosen. Bagged tea will be made available and provided onsite for participants not supplying their own tea.

Spirit/Alcoholic Brand:
One spirit/ alcoholic beverage brand of your choice purchased through the LCBO will be provided onsite

Cream, Milk and Sugar:
Will be provided on site, during the competition

Garnishes:
To be provided by participant (max 4-5)

Each contestant must submit a full recipe including garnishes – when applying. Each participant may supply 1 coffee – based recipe, 1 tea – based recipe or 1 of each.

All contestants must have their “Serving It Right” certification in order to compete on-site at the show.

Rules and Regulations
Must be 19 years of age or older to win. No immediate family of Fulcrum Media or judges may win. Prize must be accepted as awarded. The winner agrees to allow Fulcrum Media to use their photo in promotional materials.

Additional Notes:

  • The winner of this competition does not qualify for any other competition
  • Both warm or cold coffee or tea – based cocktails are acceptable
