Enter This Year's 2011 – So You Think You Can Be a Tea Sommelier Competition
The Tea Association of Canada is challenging all attendees of the 2011 Canadian Coffee and Tea Show to showcase their abilities in a blind tea tasting competition. On October 3rd from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, participants will taste 10 teas and will determine both the country of origin and the tea type. Our graduated Tea Sommeliers can do it, can you?
Sign up today and show us what you got – Tea is Hot! Anyone who answers all 10 teas correctly will win an honorary 1 Year Membership with the Tea Association of Canada.
Rules:
- Each contestant will taste 10 teas. The contestants will not be allowed to see or touch the wet or dry leaf and must correctly answer the following questions in order to win:
- Country of origin of the tea
- What type of tea is it
- Any special notes (ex. High Grow/Low Grow, CTC/Orthodox)
- Contestants will have approximately 10-15 minutes to successfully complete the blind cupping
- There will be no consolidating with other contestants or working in pairs.
- Contestants must fill out their registration forms and submit them to the Tea Association of Canada no later than September 29th in order to participate
- There will be a maximum of 10 contestants. We will take the registration forms on a first come first serve basis.
- Contestants must be at the stage and ready to go by 12:50 PM
